Behavioural eating disorders: bulimia nervosa, anorexia and binge-eating disorder

One of the most common forms of eating disorder, compulsive overeating. What does binge-eating disorder mean? There is a misconception that compulsive overeating is common only in overweight people, and people of other weights, if they eat an excessive amount of food once a week or starve for a period of time and then binge eat again (everything or nothing mentality) does not count. Addiction to food is quite common among overweight people in the world, although it is not necessary for a person suffering from this form of eating disorder to have noticeable obesity or a very large mass (some of them do not have excess weight at all).

When you have eating disorder, you regularly eat too much food and feel  lack of control over your eating. You eat quickly or take in more food even when you are not hungry, and you may not stop eating even though you already feel uncomfortably full.

Can we call such behaviour eating disorder? Even if it does not have a daily character? Medical institutions consider such a lifestyle as the first step of an eating disorder. Symptoms of eating disorders are more common in women than in men. The disease mainly manifests itself during early ages (in teenagers) and is often accompanied by psychological disorders - depression, restlessness, disorganisation, etc.

The mentioned disorder is mostly of a nervous nature and depends on the psychological state of the person. It can also be genetic, if one of your parents or siblings had a similar disorder, your risk of developing eating disorders may increase.

Finally, binge-eating disorder can result from frequent starvation diets, often followed by binge eating, planned "cheat days," and the belief that if you're on a diet, you don't eat, but if you're not, you get whatever you want.

We don't know what kind of relationship we may have with food tomorrow, so let's avoid these wrong actings today that could lead us to such a dangerous psychological disorder.

Eat healthy, avoid hunger and get rid of the "all or nothing" mentality.
